Chris Evans Reveals First Celebrity Crushes, His Dream Role and the Future of Captain America

E ONLINE – Chris Evans’ plan to be a dad one day isn’t the only thing he revealed to E! News when we sat down with him last week to talk about his new movie Gifted.

Here are five more things we learned about the hunky actor that ya gotta know.

1. Young Love: Evans said he had at least three celebrity crushes when he was a kid. “Elisabeth Shue from Adventures of Babysitting and Karate Kid!…Lori Loughlin was a big one. Come on, who didn’t love Lori Loughlin? She hasn’t aged at all. Sandra Bullock was a big one too…like when I was like in seventh or eight grade.”

2. Song & Dance: Evans not only knows how to tap dance (just ask any of his co-stars, who frequently comment on his awesome dancing skills), but he’d love to star in a musical. “I’m looking to find one,” he said, adding, “I love Gene Kelly, he was great. Wouldn’t it be great to do a [Gene Kelly] biopic or something like that?”

Or Guys & Dolls! “That would be great, too,” Evans said. “I did that in high school.”

3. Be Our Guest: Evans hasn’t seen the new Beauty and the Beast yet, but he will. “I am a Disney buff,” said Evans.

4. It’s Elementary: Evans’ favorite subject in school was math. “I probably didn’t like English too much,” he said. “I hate spelling and grammar.” (He stars in Gifted as a boat mechanic who is raising his six-year-old math prodigy niece.)

5. Super Power: Evans’ official reign as Captain America is set to end after the third and fourth Avengers movies. “After that my contract is done so it’s out of my hands,” he said. However, he may not be ready to put down that shield: “I have been doing this for so long, it’s tough to think about not doing it. For almost a decade now there has always been one around the corner. I would be open to it. I love playing that guy.”

Gifted is in theaters on April 7.

Chris Evans Is Peak Dad In Gifted

REFINERY29 – Okay, so technically he’s an uncle, but that doesn’t mean this clip from upcoming movie Gifted isn’t choc-full of adorable dad-isms from Chris Evans’ character Frank Adler. Frank, a single man, is determined to raise his niece Mary, played by Mckenna Grace, the way her mother would have wanted, giving her a normal life and the chance to be a kid.

Although Mary is a child prodigy, Frank doesn’t want to send her to a special center where she’d be challenged. Instead, he wants to keep her in public school with her teacher Bonnie, played by Jenny Slate. This leads to a nasty custody battle with his mother, who thinks Mary should be given the special treatment her intelligence deserves.

But what does Mary want? Well, in the clip above, a better outfit.

“Come on, I made you a special breakfast,” Frank says, knocking on Mary’s door.

“You can’t cook,” she retorts.

He finally gets her to open the door, where she stands in a bright red dress and big sneakers.

“You look beautiful,” Frank says.

“I look like a Disney character,” she replies, adorably stomping away.

This is perfect, because apparently the actor was kind of like a dad IRL. While filming in Savannah, he would organize game nights for the cast and crew.

“At first I was like, ‘What a fucking nightmare,’” Jenny Slate said in an interview with Vulture. “Chris is a different speed than me — I think he really did just jump out of a plane for an interview.” However, she came around. Dedicated fans know that the two ended up dating for some time after wrapping filming.

The movie, from the same people who made (500) Days Of Summer, is hitting theaters on April 7. Other cast members include Octavia Spencer and Julie Ann Emery, and you can watch the trailer here.

New “Gifted” BTS Photo & Production Stills

Entertainment Weekly has released new production stills along with a behind the scenes photos from Gifted. I have updated the gallery with the new photos.

Chris Evans is trading in his Captain America uniform for his next movie, but he’s still playing a man on a mission.

In Gifted, directed by Marc Webb (500 Days of Summer), Evans stars as Frank Adler, a single man in coastal Florida raising his child prodigy niece, Mary (Mckenna Grace). His efforts to give Mary a normal life despite her mathematical skills run him up against his mother (Lindsay Duncan) and leads to a custody battle over the young girl. Octavia Spencer also appears in the film as Roberta, Frank and Mary’s landlady and best friend, and Jenny Slate stars as Mary’s teacher, Bonnie.

EW can now unveil exclusive new photos from Gifted, which opens in theaters on April 7. Keep clicking for more of Evans, Slate, Grace, and the rest of the cast.
